Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 22, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how the Bible Reader mobile application ("the App", "we", "us") handles information. By using the App you agree to the practices described here.
We built Bible Reader to be privacy-friendly and offline-first. The App does not require an account, and we do not collect names, email addresses, or sign-in information. The only data that ever leaves your device is described in sections 2 and 3 below: what the Google AdMob advertising SDK collects, what the optional AI features need to answer you, and what Google Play needs to process a purchase.
1. Information stored on your device
All of your personal usage data stays on your device and is not transmitted to us:
- Favorite verses, prayers, affirmations, and quotes
- Personal notes, prayer journal entries, and testimonies
- Reading history, reading plans, streaks, daily goals, achievements, and statistics
- App settings (language, theme, font size, notification and widget configuration)
- Bible content and the offline Bible database
- Usage counters used to decide when to show ads or to ask for a store rating
- If you enable it, the optional AI memory: a short summary of what you have shared with the AI Bible Chat, so it can follow up with you the next day. It is saved only on your device, it is sent to our server only together with your own messages, and you can turn it off or erase it at any time in Settings.
This information is saved locally using your device's standard storage and is removed when you uninstall the App or clear its data (unless you have created a backup file yourself).
Identifiers we use
- A random installation identifier. The first time you use the AI features, the App generates a random identifier (a UUID) on your device. It is not derived from and not linked to your name, e-mail, Google account, phone number, or device serial number. We use it only to enforce the daily usage quota and to protect the service from abuse. Clearing the App's data or reinstalling the App creates a new one.
- The Android advertising ID, which is read by the Google AdMob SDK (section 2a). You can reset or delete it in your device settings.
2. Information collected by third-party services
a) Google AdMob (advertising)
The free version of the App shows ads (banner, interstitial, and optional rewarded ads) through Google AdMob, a service of Google LLC. The AdMob SDK is part of the App and automatically collects and shares with Google:
- Your IP address, which Google may use to estimate your approximate location
- Your Android advertising ID and App Set ID
- Ad interactions (app launches, taps, video views)
- Diagnostic information (app start time, hang rate, energy usage)
Google uses this data to serve and measure ads, for analytics, and for fraud prevention and security. Ads may be personalized where permitted by law and by your device settings. All of this data is encrypted in transit (TLS). The App does not run ads for Premium users, so none of this collection happens while a Premium purchase is active.
- Google Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy
- How Google uses information from apps that use its services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
- You can reset or delete your advertising ID and opt out of ads personalization in Android Settings → Google → Ads (or Settings → Privacy → Ads).
b) Google Play Billing (purchases)
If you purchase a Premium subscription or one-time upgrade, the transaction is processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We never see or store your payment card details; Google Play shares with the App only the purchase information needed to unlock Premium (product, purchase state, and a purchase token). To confirm that you are entitled to Premium features such as the AI chat, the App may send that purchase token to our server, which verifies it with Google Play. Purchases are governed by Google's Privacy Policy (linked above).
c) AI Bible Chat, personal prayers and reading plans (our server and Google Gemini)
The AI features are optional. When you send a message, ask for a personal prayer or generate a reading plan, the App transmits over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) to our server, hosted on Cloudflare:
- The text you wrote or dictated (your question, what you want to pray about, or the goal of your plan)
- The random installation identifier described in section 1
- The language you use in the App
- If you keep the AI memory enabled, the short summary described in section 1, so the reply can take your situation into account
- For Premium users, your Google Play purchase token, so the server can confirm your entitlement
Our server forwards your text to the Google Gemini API (Google LLC) to generate a Scripture-based reply. Our server does not store your messages, prayers, plans or replies. It keeps only a daily usage counter associated with the random identifier, which is reset every day and expires automatically, and a short-lived record of whether a Premium purchase was verified. Google processes the text under the Gemini API terms: it may retain prompts and responses for a limited time to detect abuse and, while we use the free tier of the API, may use them to improve its services. We do not attach your name or any account to these requests, and we never use them to build an advertising profile.
Voice input. If you use a microphone button, your speech is captured and transcribed by your device's system speech-recognition service (provided by Google or your device manufacturer), not by the App or by our servers. The App receives only the resulting text, which is sent to our server only if you choose to send it.
Faith conversations can be personal. Please avoid sharing sensitive personal information (such as full names, addresses, or health details) with the AI features.
d) Analytics
The App does not currently send usage analytics or crash reports to us; the only measurement performed is AdMob's own, described above. If we add an analytics or crash-reporting service in the future, we will update this policy and the App's Data safety section on Google Play before it goes live.
3. Device permissions
The App may request the following permissions, only for the stated purpose:
- Internet — to load ads, to send your AI requests to our server, and to process purchases through Google Play.
- Notifications — to send the daily verse/prayer reminders you enable. Reminders are scheduled locally on your device; we do not run a push server.
- Microphone — only when you tap a voice-input button. Audio is handled by your device's speech-recognition service to produce text; the App does not record, store, or upload audio.
- Photos / storage — only when you choose to attach an image to a testimony or save/share a verse image. The App does not browse or upload your gallery.
You can revoke any permission at any time in your device settings.
4. Children's privacy
Bible Reader is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the advertising or AI services, please contact us so we can help remove it.
5. Data sharing and security
- We do not sell your personal information.
- The third parties that receive data for their own purposes are Google, as an advertising network (AdMob), as described in section 2a, and Google, as provider of the Gemini API, to the extent described in section 2c.
- Cloudflare (hosting of our server) processes AI requests only on our behalf and only to provide the service.
- Google Play processes purchases as the store platform.
- Every transmission from the App is encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS).
- Because your content is stored locally, its security depends primarily on your device's own protections (screen lock, encryption, backups).
6. Data retention
- On your device: until you delete the item, clear the App's data, or uninstall the App. The AI memory can also be erased from Settings at any time.
- On our server: we do not store messages, prayers, plans, replies, or purchase tokens in clear text. The daily counter tied to your random identifier is reset each day and expires automatically; the Premium verification record expires within a few days.
- At Google: AdMob data and Gemini API logs are retained according to Google's own policies for a limited time.
7. Your rights and how to delete your data
Depending on your region (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data.
- Data on your device: clear the App's data or uninstall the App. Because we hold no account, this removes everything we could associate with you.
- Advertising data: reset or delete your advertising ID in Android Settings; for requests about data held by Google, use the tools at myadcenter.google.com and Google's Privacy Policy.
- Data on our server: the daily counter contains no information that identifies you and expires on its own; uninstalling the App or clearing its data permanently severs any link to it. You may nevertheless e-mail us at the address below to request its deletion, and we will honor the request.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, through a notice in the App.
